1950s Bentwood Dining Chair Set
A mid-century modern set of dining side chairs with an economy of form representative of the era—The traditional ladder-back style more refined with bow shaped rungs, gently tapering front legs and minimalist lines. Produced by TON Czechoslovakia, (Thonet prior to the nationalisation of industry under the Socialist Republic), for James Richardson Furniture Australia, the design is a forerunner to the work lauded at EXPO 58 Brussels. The beechwood frames are finished in rubbed oil & wax and nicely contrast the robust red linen upholstery.
